    Story Writing Competition Winners 

    Congratulations to Ebony and Max in Year 6 who have been chosen as our own short story writing competition winners for 2018. Both pupils have received the latest books by Maria Farrer, an award winning children's author.

     Every year, our community partner, Moto in the Community, offers Serlby Park pupils the chance to enter a national story writing competition and a chance to win £2500 to spend on fun things for our school.

  • Visit from the Royal Air Force

    15th October 2018 - Serlby Park Academy

     

    Last week Serlby Park Academy welcomed the Royal Air Force into our Assemblies.  They spoke to the students about being a cadet and gave them information on all the different things they will be able to do.  We already have students from our school whom are Air Force Cadets.  It has been a pleasure to welcome them and we are proud of our students and all that they achieve within the Cadets.

    Within the cadets, the young people have the opportunity to make new friends while flying, shooting, gliding, gaining

  • New Spanish Club

    15th October 2018 - Serlby Park Academy

    There is a new Spanish Club for Secondary pupils every Monday after school 2:30-3:30pm.

    Pupils can come along, practise their speaking skills, watch films, play language games and more.

  • Superhero Adventures Mini Saga Competition

    12th October 2018 - Serlby Park Academy

     

    Congratulations to our primary pupils who have just had their mini sagas selected for publication.

    During the summer term we launched 'Superhero Adventures Writing Competition', which certainly captured our young writers imaginations. Over 14,000 children took part nationally, so we are delighted that eleven of our pupils will shortly have their work included in the latest book from Young Writers which is due out later this year.

  • Plastic Free Friday

    12th October 2018 - Park View Primary Academy

    This week the pupils at Park View have decided to take a small step to making a real difference to the amount of single-use plastic which ends up in the ocean. By only using resuable plastics and writing to the company who produces our milk containers, we hope to change the way everyone thinks about plastic. 

  • Attendance Achievers

    10th October 2018 - Rossington All Saints Academy

    A huge well done to Egypt and Romania forms for achieving 99.2% attendance last week.

    Canada were close behind with 99% and the USA and Singapore were third with 98.1%.

    Special congratulations to Romania for achieving 99% attendance for the year!

    Singapore are second so far with 98.4% with Cuba and the USA next with 98%.

    Keep up the good work!  

  • A visitor from Merseyside!

    9th October 2018 - The Grove Academy

    Sarah Halpin a fanatical Everton supporter from Merseyside, is going to spend the day at the Grove Academy on Friday 12th October.  The charismatic Evertonian has recently been interviewed on The Premier league Show, BBC 2 and twice on The Real Football Fan Show, Channel 4.  We are looking forward to a lot of friendly banter.

    She is coming to us to tell us her story and to help show our students how everyone's journey is different!

  • Poetry Day

    5th October 2018 - Estcourt Primary Academy

    Thursday 4th October saw National Poetry Day arrive at our academy. Our day had started superbly thanks to a special message from poet Joseph Coelho who wished us all the best in our epic poetry day. As the day progressed all classes discussed, performed and recited a number of original and famous poems before taking part in the BBC Teach Live Lesson via their website. We were lucky enough to even get a mention on the screen and several famous authors contacted us directly via Twitter during the day. Overal

  • Reverend Sarah Jones Visit

    5th October 2018 - Rossington All Saints Academy

    On Thursday 4th October Y10 RE students had the priviledge of meeting Reverend Sarah Jones.  Students explored Sarah's life as a transgender woman, her faith and some of the issues she has faced throughout her life regarding her transition.  It was an outstanding session and one that we hope our students will remember for a very long time. 

    As always, Y10 were brilliant and a credit to the academy.

    The cost of the trip is £180.00.  £80.00 deposit is required to secure your place, then a payment of £50 is required by 1st February 2019 and the final payment of £50.00 is required by 1st May 2019.  All details are in the letter which has been given to all students in Years 7 to 10.

    The academy will be holding a 'Preparation For Exams' evening for our Year 11 students and their parents on Tuesday, 9th October 2018 between 5.30pm - 7pm.

    This evening is aimed at supporting you and your child as they take the next steps towards their GCSE examinations in the summer. As you will be aware, this is an important year for our Year 11 students and we are hosting this event to give as much support to both students and parents as early as possible.

  • Phizz-Whizzing Words Writing Competition

    Congratulations and well done to Ella, Chloe and Angel from Year 6, who have won our Roald Dahl Day writing competition.

    Pupils were asked to create a poem or a short story in 250 words inspired by Roald Dahl. 

    All the entries have now been sent to 'Young Writers' for a chance to win a Golden Family Ticket to The Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre.

  • Roald Dahl - Bug Buddy Art Competition Winner

    3rd October 2018 - Serlby Park Academy

     

    Congratulations to Mia-Rose in Year 2, who has been chosen as our winner for this Roald Dahl inspired competition. 

    We asked our pupils to design and draw a bug to join the crew aboard The Giant Peach and then write four sentences about why it should travel with James and the other insects. 

    Mia-Rose designed a fantastic circus bug and clearly explained how her little insect would keep all the other creatures entertained on the long journey.

    2nd October 2018 - Pheasant Bank Academy

    On Tuesday 2 October the children in Year 5 took part in an athletic event at the Sheffield Institute of Sport.  It was part of our topic work, "We are Yorkshire, we are Rossington", to focus on the importance of leisure and tourism on the local economy.
